Incense cone burners and ash catchers

Incense cone burners and ash catchers are for normal incense, not backflow. Cone burners are little houses and igloos: you put a lit cone inside and the smoke rises from the chimney. Ash catchers are long, flat dishes for incense sticks that catch the ash as it falls. We also have a wooden wall shelf and a stick holder. They're for anyone who burns ordinary cones or sticks and wants somewhere heat-resistant and tidy to do it. For flowing smoke, see backflow burners.

How to choose

Cones or sticks? Cone burners are made for incense cones. Ash catchers and stick holders are made for incense sticks. Pick the holder that matches what you burn.

Cone burners. Our house, lodge and igloo designs are resin. Put a lit cone inside, close it up, and the smoke comes out of the chimney or top. They work as decorations when not in use, and the Christmas and winter designs are popular at this time of year. Normal cones are the natural choice here. Backflow cones burn fine in them too, but the smoke will rise, not flow.

Ash catchers. Our moon phase ash catchers are long, flat dishes in stoneware and ceramic, around 25–26cm long. Rest the stick at an angle and the ash lands in the dish rather than on your furniture.

Shelves and stick holders. The luna moth shelf is MDF with a bracket for hanging, and the Chakra and Buddha holder is a tall resin stick holder. Check the product page for how each one holds the incense.

Sizing

Check the dimensions on each product page. Cone burners are mostly 7–13cm tall, so make sure your cones fit inside with space around them. Ash catchers need a surface long enough to sit flat.

Fire safety

Incense produces smoke and fine particles. If a pet has breathing problems, ask your vet before burning incense at home. More in is backflow incense safe?

Questions people ask

What is an incense ash catcher?

A heat-resistant dish, usually long and flat, that holds an incense stick at an angle and catches the ash as it falls. It keeps ash off your furniture.

How do you use an incense cone burner?

Light a normal incense cone, let it flame briefly, blow it out, and place it inside the burner on a heat-resistant surface. The smoke rises out of the chimney or top. Never leave it unattended.

Can incense ash cause a fire?

Hot ash or a still-smouldering cone can start a fire if it lands on something that burns. Use a heat-resistant holder, keep it clear of anything flammable, and make sure everything is cold before emptying it.

Can I use backflow cones in a cone burner?

Yes, they burn like normal cones. The smoke will rise from the chimney rather than flowing down, because there is no backflow channel underneath.
