Backflow incense cones

Backflow incense cones have a hole in the base and a hollow channel inside. That channel is what lets the smoke flow down through a backflow burner instead of rising. We stock Satya backflow dhoop cones, sold in boxes of six packets of one scent, and Elements jumbo backflow cones, sold as trays of six tins. They're for anyone with a backflow burner, or anyone restocking. Normal solid cones won't give the waterfall effect.

How to choose backflow cones

Make sure they're backflow cones. Turn one over. You should see a clear, round hole in the middle of the base. Normal cones are solid and the smoke will rise. More in backflow vs normal incense cones.

Match the size to your burner. This matters more than brand.

Pick a scent you like. Our Satya range includes Superhit, Palo Santo, Rose, Buddha's Blessing, Dragons Fire, Blue Sage and Chakra. These are Satya's scent names; we sell them as fragrance only. Elements jumbo cones come in Lemon Grass and Jasmine.

Burn time

A backflow cone typically burns for around 10–15 minutes, depending on size and brand. The supplier lists the Elements jumbo cones at approximately 40 minutes each. Each Elements tray holds six tins of 20 cones.

Keep them dry

Cones absorb moisture from the air, and damp cones are one of the most common reasons backflow stops working. Keep packets sealed in a dry cupboard, away from steamy kitchens and bathrooms, and out of reach of children and pets.

Guides to help

Incense produces smoke and fine particles. Burn it in a ventilated room and never leave it unattended. Orders ship from a UK warehouse; see delivery.

Questions people ask

Can you use regular incense cones in a backflow burner?

They will burn, but the smoke rises like normal incense. Regular cones are solid, so there is no channel for the smoke to travel down. You need backflow cones for the waterfall effect.

How long do backflow incense cones burn?

Typically around 10–15 minutes per cone, depending on size and brand. Jumbo cones last longer; the supplier lists the Elements jumbo cones at about 40 minutes each.

What are backflow incense cones made of?

Like other incense cones, they are made from plant materials, a binder and fragrance, shaped around a hollow channel. Ingredients vary by brand, so check the packet.

Which backflow cones fit my burner?

Standard cones such as Satya fit most burners, including small ones. Jumbo cones suit large burners with a wide, flat top. The cone should sit flat with its hole directly over the burner's hole.
